Highlights from NALC Annual Conference 2019

We were proud to once again sponsor this year’s NALC Annual Conference which took place last week at the Milton Keynes Stadium. The conference was attended by over 200 representatives of parish councils, town councils and county associations.

Round up from the two-day event

It was great to meet so many of the councillors and clerks throughout the two-day event and catch up with those we have built a relationship with over the years. We discussed our new Parish Online partnership and how councils can get their licenses for free as well as another new partnership with Berea, the cybersecurity and cyber-training specialist.

Our workshop ‘Protecting your Community from Cybercrime’ with our cyber expert Andy Hall was well-received amongst the councils, who understood the need for cybersecurity and the importance of keeping their data and IT systems secure.

We are looking forward to getting in touch with everyone who we met to see how we can support them in the future!

Star Councils Awards 2019

A special congratulations to the winners and runners up of the Star Councils Awards. We heard lots of amazing success stories on the night with many inspiring people behind them!

This year’s winners were:

Council of the Year: Woughton Community Council, Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes
Councillor of the Year: Cllr Sarah Williams, Bridport Town Council, Dorset
Young Councillor of the Year: Cllr Daniel Thomas, Much Wenlock Town Council, Shropshire
Clerk of the Year: Donna Ford, Midsomer Norton Town Council, Avon
County Association Project of the Year: Northamptonshire County Association of Local Councils

What happens next?

It’s going to be an exciting chapter for BHIB Councils Insurance as we continue to grow as a business, continue to better understand the needs of councils, and continue to work in partnership with NALC to best serve the Local Council community.
