It’s that time of the year again where councillors, clerks, volunteers and county associations come together for one of the most established events in the Council sector. Held at Milton Keynes Stadium, the NALC Annual Conference 2019 will welcome over 250 attendees across a two day conference on the 28 and 29 October.
Alongside the conference agenda, we are proud to be the headline sponsor the Star Council Awards 2019, which will take place on the evening of the 28 October to celebrate those who have made a significant difference within their local communities over the past year.
What to expect from BHIB Councils Insurance at the NALC Annual Conference
We are excited to sponsor the NALC Annual Conference once again and offer our continued support in the local council sector. We will be exhibiting at Stand No.1 over the course of the two days as well as hosting workshop B, ‘protecting your community from cybercrime’, which will be ran by Andy Hall, our BHIB Councils Insurance Cyber Risk Specialist, and Aaron Yates, Chief Executive of Berea. We will be speaking about the cybercrime age and the various insurance solutions that are available to protect Local Councils and their communities from these risks.
During the conference we will be launching our new and exciting partnerships with Berea, a cybersecurity company, and also our new partnership with Parish Online, a digital asset mapping software provider.
Our work with Berea
We are working with Berea to offer Councils a Cyber Risk Management Bundle which provides Councils with better risk management direction and without the expense or jargon of a consultant. The Bundle will support you in educating your staff on cybersecurity and allows your Council to obtain the Government-backed ‘Cyber Essentials’ certificate.
The bundle will be on display at Stand No.1 with a limited quantity available for purchase on the day (though you will be able to take one away on the day and pay by invoice later). If you want to find out more about what is included in the bundle and why it is beneficial for Councils, it will be explained at our cybercrime workshop.
Our partnership with Parish Online
We have partnered with Parish Online to offer Councils free digital mapping licenses to all Councils who insure with us on a three year deal. One of the biggest challenges facing councils is keeping track of all their assets and we have recognised the vast improvement in the quality and ease-of-maintenance of asset registers maintained using Parish Online. Recommended by NALC, Parish Online is the most widely-used digital mapping system across Local Government.
Representatives from Parish Online will be exhibiting at the NALC Annual Conference to discuss the importance of keeping assets up-to-date and explaining how Councils can get Parish Online licenses for free.
