We recently presented at Scribefest, a free virtual conference for clerks, RFOs and members of local councils – hosted by our Council-specialist Accountancy partners, Scribe Accounts.
Scribefest was aimed at supporting Councillors and Clerks as we begin to restore normality, packed with lots of informative presentations from industry experts.
The event was well-attended with lots of engaged council members wanting to share ideas and discuss key topics for the council sector.
Our Risk Management workshop
Our Councils Risk Manager, Brian Brookes, hosted a session called ‘Planning for the Future – Top Tips for Councils to Manage their Risks’ where he spoke about emerging risks as a result of COVID-19 and the importance of carrying out risk assessments for playground equipment/outdoor gyms as well as for working from home using a Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Self-Assessment form.
He also touched on managing risks when holding council meetings and explained what to do if you are hiring or letting a premises.
The attendees were extremely complimentary of the workshop and gave us some fantastic feedback. If you would like to learn more about any of these topics, please get in touch at [email protected] and we’d be more than happy to answer any queries.
Prize draw winners – announced!
To conclude the event, Scribe Accounts held a prize draw where we donated our informative Cyber Risk Management Bundles and a £100 donation to a charity of their choice.
We are pleased to announce the following winners:
- Fiona Palmer – Castle Donington Parish Council
- Carl Hunter – Tatham Parish Council
- Judy Damant – Meldreth Parish Council
- Susan Roxby – Christchurch Town Council who donated to The Mayor’s Fund
Congratulations all!
